Monsoon season (July-August) should be avoided due to heavy rainfall and potential landslides, while winter months (November-April) bring extreme cold and snow.
The Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is rated as moderate to challenging. The trail involves daily walks of 5-7 hours with significant altitude gain, especially on the ascent to Tapovan (4,463m). Previous trekking experience is recommended, and participants should be in good physical condition with proper acclimatization to handle the high altitude.
